MEMBERSHIP
- Any adult lay Roman
Catholic, who is not already committed to a different Order, and who is
willing to undertake the commitment described in this constitution may
become a professed member of Glasgow Lay Dominicans if accepted by a
majority of the council.
- The commitment of
profession is:
I, N/N, promise to
live so far as I am able, with the help of the Holy Spirit, according to the
prophetic charism of St Dominic and of the Order of Preachers, and I commit
myself to membership of the community of Glasgow Lay Dominicans, according to
its constitution, for a period of ..... years.
- Profession may be
made, or renewed, for a period of not less than one year, and not more than
three years, the period to be determined by the individual with the approval
of the majority of the council.
- The commitment of
profession is to be made before the provincial or his representative.
- Lay Roman Catholics,
by making this commitment, become professed Lay Dominicans for the duration
of their commitment.
- Membership of the
association may be terminated by a majority vote of the council and with the
agreement of the Provincial. Before this takes place, a firm effort should
have been made by the council and the member involved to reconcile any
serious differences that have arisen. If the membership is to be ended, the
reasons for this should be stated in writing, and should relate to the
nature of the commitment required by this constitution.
