GLASGOW LAY DOMINICANS'
Web page
The black dog with the torch in its mouth
is a Dominican emblem.
In Latin wordplay, it portrays
Dominicans, or
Blackfriars, as faithful followers of Christ, carrying the torch of Christian faith to
the world.
Lay Dominicans do not
wear the traditional black religious habits of those in religious life, but as members of
the Dominican family, their mission is the same: to proclaim the Truth of the
Gospel.

"It
is for you to develop a culture of truth, in collaboration with other members
of the Dominican Family, which must replace the present culture of lies. This will
necessarily involve you in the struggles against injustice, violence, racism,
sexism, classism and corruption in all aspects of human life"
