Justice consists in the firm and constant will to give God and neighbour their due.

GOSPEL VALUES                                                           THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW  25:31-46

Jesus talked of a future time when all the nations of the earth would be gathered before him, the Son of Man, for judgement. He outlined in a dramatic way the criteria by which we will be judged:

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me..

Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of these the least of my sisters and brothers, you did it to me.

DOMINICAN VALUES                                                                                               ST DOMINIC

For Dominicans today as for St Dominic himself justice is a priority.

It is intrinsic to the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for which the Order of Preachers was established and it is a goal that is as elusive as holiness itself:

to love God and to love our neighbour as we love ourselves.

In the Dominican tradition people like Bartolome de Las Casas and Martin de Porres are models for Christians of all ages.

OUR VALUES                                                                 WORKING IN OUR WORLD

There is no peace without justice, and for justice to blossom, everyone must share the labour of the planting.

Our individual efforts, though small, can contribute to great changes when wisely coordinated.

For some people, their own personal effort on behalf of Gospel values may have wider, global impact in altering unjust structures that perpetuate suffering and injustice around the world.
